Ice Tray Quarters

How to play Ice Tray Quarters

Ice Tray Quarters takes the fundamentals of the classic coin drinking game Quarters and adds a subtle twist. Ice Tray Quarters is great if the original game is getting a little stale. It is also just as easy to pick up and play as every house should have an ice cube tray laying around somewhere. This game can get highly competitive but can also be played relaxed and leisurely.

Players: 3+

Gear

  • Quarter (keep a couple extras around, they always seem to go missing)
  • Empty Ice Cube tray
  • Alcohol of the players choice
  • Table and chairs

Setup

Have all players sit on the same side of the table. Place the empty ice cube tray in the centre of the other end of the table vertically.

How to Play Ice Tray Quarters

  1. Choose a player to go first.
  2. The player tries to bounce the quarter off of the table and into one of the pockets of the ice cube tray.
  3. If the player misses it is the next persons turn.
  4. In the event the player gets the quarter into any of the pockets on the LEFT side of the tray, they must TAKE the drink.
  5. If the player gets the quarter into any of the pockets on the RIGHT side of the tray they may GIVE the drink.
  6. The length of drink is determined by how far back the pocket was that the quarter landed in. For example if it was in the first row, it is a one second (or one gulp) drink. If it was in the 6th row it was a six second (or gulp) drink. ETC.

This game has players chugging a lot of their drinks in a short period time. If you begin to feel too intoxicated cut yourself off. Do not drink and drive.
