How to Play Civil War

Civil war is a drinking game. It is a beer pong variation and is very similar to the game nemesis. Civil war is a three vs. three drinking game that involves shooting ping pong balls into your opponent beer cups. Each player tries to rapidly shoot the ball to his opponent cups. Every player has a lifeline of 3 or 6 cups. If the opposing team has knocked out the defending teams cups, they lose the game. Learn how to play civil war below.

Player range

Six people divided into two teams.

Gear

For the civil war game, you will need:

  •  Four ping pong balls
  • 40 solo cups (4 water cups)
  • 12 beers per game (2 beers per rack, three racks per team)

Civil war Setup

Divide into two teams of three. Each player has a 6 cup lifeline. Arrange cups infant of each player in a triangular pattern, putting the cups on top of each other 3-2-1.

Civil War Rules

Once the game starts, the two teams start a crossfire game of pong, there is no shooting limit, and until 3 or 6 of your opposing team cups are knocked out, they are still in the game.

Anytime the balls get into one of your cups, you have to drink the alcohol in the cup and remove it from the table before you continue to play. Once it gets to three, then you have lost the game.

Teammates can pass their balls to themselves, and no balls are off-limit. Even rollbacks can re-shoot, meaning if your ball hits your opponent’s cup and rolls back to you, you can pick it up and shoot it again. Although the shots are unlimited, you have to drink if the ball gets into your cup before you shoot, but there are no turns on when to shoot so that any team player can shoot at any time.

Once a player’s cups are knocked off, they can’t shoot again. But they can help their teammate pick loose pong and distract opposing players.

A team can eliminate a player by two dropping two balls simultaneously into the same cup of the player.

How to win the civil war

The first team to eliminate all his opposing team cups is the winner. In a civil war, winning is not instant, and there are a lot of comebacks. The three opposing players can’t be knocked off simultaneously. When one of the players gets knocked out, he can help this pick rebound balls, which will increase the team’s shooting power.

These rules add a lot of different elements to the game. Sometimes teams use a strategy that involves leaving each opposing team member with one cup in the game, so he doesn’t get to help pick the rebounds balls for his teammate and then completely knock them out one by one in quick succession.
